Low Carb Dessert Recipes – Restricting Carbs Does Not Mean You Can’t Have A Piece Of Cake Too

Restricting carbs does not mean that people cannot have a piece of cake too. In fact, there are many recipes to choose from to satisfy the cravings for something sweet. Cake is not the only sweets one can get being on a low-carb diet. To give you an idea on what kinds of sweets people can have on low-carb diets, we give you few recipes to follow.

1. Cream Puff Shells – To prepare, it needs ingredients such as ½ cup of shortening, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of boiling water and 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour and 4 eggs. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Except for flour and eggs, mix all the ingredients and heat until the mixture boils. Minimize the heat while adding the flour all at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms the ball. Take it out from the oven to add eggs one at a time and beat the mixture thoroughly until it becomes thick and breaks from the spoon.

Spoon the mixture onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Minimize the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and further bake for 20 minutes more or until golden and sound hollow when being tapped. Cool and fill.

2. Cream Cheese Tart Shells – Its ingredients include 3 ounces of softened cream cheese, ½ cup softened butter and 1 cup all-purpose flour. Blend butter and cream cheese together and stir in the flour until the mixture is completely mixed. Chill for one hour (this can be prepared earlier and chilled for 24 hours). Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and start to shape the dough into 24 one-inch balls. Press the small balls into ungreased 1 ½ inch muffin cups (the size of mini-muffin) to prepare a shallow shell. Fill with your favorite filling and bake for 20 minutes or until brown.

3. Delightful Fruit Dip – This is very delicious and easy to prepare low-carb dessert. It is nutritious too for it uses fresh fruit to prepare. The ingredients are 4 ounces of cream cheese, 1 and 1/8 cups of marshmallow fluff, ½ cup of vanilla yogurt and 1 dash food coloring. The fresh fruit choices are strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, and apple. Mix cream cheese, yogurt, marshmallow crème, and food color until smooth. Serve with fresh fruit.

4. Ganache II – The ingredients include 16 ounces of bittersweet chopped chocolate, 1 cup heavy cream and ½ cup unsalted butter. Put the chopped chocolate in a large stainless steel bowl. Using a large and high-sided saucepan, heat the cream and butter and stir frequently until it starts to boil. Remove from the heat when it boils and pour over the chopped chocolate and begin stirring until the chocolate is completely melted and mixture is smooth. Let it cool and then store in fridge. It can be reheated using a double boiler over simmering water.

Candy bar is a lovely rectangular piece of heaven that can be enjoyed by anyone. As the name indicates these are long bar shaped confectionary. Candy bar is a broad term and includes sugar milk, cocoa solid and cocoa butter bars. The presence of different delicious ingredients classifies the candy bar into dark chocolate, white chocolate and milk chocolate. Different ingredients such as emulsifying agents, soy lecithin and vanilla extracts are used in the manufacturing process of the candy bar.

Candy bar enveloped with almond bite with a sweet coating of honey are available in a pack of six pieces in each pack, separately wrapped in wax papers first and then in the wrappers. A bar filled with roasted peanuts and covered with vanilla nougat is an all time favorite of the people who love nuts. Biscuit filled bars coated with caramel and milk is the right bar to increase the energy levels with its glucose contents. Fresh coconut filled bar with a covering of milk or dark chocolate is the perfect bar for accurate sharing as it is available in two halves in the same pack.

Candy bar like breakaway, butterfinger, bourneville, brown pudding, break and a wide variety of candy bar packs is available to light up the occasion or festival. Shift Work Fatigue ? Why You Must Avoid The Chocolate Bar And Grab Yourself A Piece Of Fruit Instead!

Now as shift workers the number one thing that my subscribers tell me that they struggle with each and every day is fatigue and a lack of energy. Certainly not surprising given the crazy and irregular hours shift workers make their bodies endure.

So what is the easiest and quickest way to give yourself a boost in energy? By grabbing yourself a fresh piece of fruit! 

You’re no doubt familiar with the old saying ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’. This certainly has credibility, but it applies to more than just apples.

For excellent health and vitality we all should be eating at least four pieces of fresh fruit a day! 

Why? Because fruit is full of fresh water (dehydration is the number one cause of fatigue), as well as plenty of vitamins, minerals and fibre. 

Fruit also contains lots of enzymes to aid digestion (I’m sure if you’re a shift worker then you’ve no doubt suffered from constipation at some point), and lots of fruit also helps to ‘clean out’ the body. (I’ve certainly had days when I’ve felt like I needed a really good clean out!!) 

Now in addition to all of the above, fruit is a delicious form of energy because it’s packed with fructose which is a natural form of simple sugar. As fruit has a very high water content, it acts as an excellent body cleanser, flushing out impurities – plus, it can help get rid of waste from your digestive system, bloodstream, internal organs and even your skin. 

Now the first thing that I do when I get up to go to work in the morning (not sure if I’d call 2:30am “morning”) – is that I have a full glass of water. Because we have been sleeping for a few hours (if we’re lucky) – our body has been deprived of water therefore it will be feeling quite dehydrated. (Remember my point earlier about dehydration being the number one cause of fatigue)..

After half an hour or so I then eat a piece of fruit because when we go to sleep at night, our metabolism and digestive system slows down. A good way to wake your body up and kick-start your digestive system is to begin your day with some fresh fruit. It’s easy to digest, helps with bowel regularity and increases the body’s metabolism. 

So make sure that you’re eating at least 4 pieces of fresh fruit a day (and that doesn’t mean 2 grapes and 2 cherries) – four serious pieces of fruit a day.

You’ll certainly feel a heck of a lot more healthy, energetic and alive by incorporating more fruit into your diet!
