Chocolate Cravings – Taming the Monster

Posted by - Categoriezed under: Chocolate & Diet

America’s favorite flavor is reportedly vanilla, but you would have a hard time convincing chocolate lovers of that.

Look at the grocery store check-out aisles. They are stocked with chocolate bars, after all, not vanilla bars.

That lady in the Nutrisystem TV ads who says she can eat it every day seems to be a poster child for chocolate addiction. No doubt she sells a lot of Nutrisystem diet plans, too.

While chocolate does contain anti-oxidants, that hardly qualifies it as a dietary staple.

A chocolate diet has actually been created by the French, but of course, the ChoclaSlim by Slim Delices. Some of the ingredients include chicory inulin (root), artichoke extract (leaf), green tea extract (leaf), and guarana extract (fruit).

Dietitians aren’t buying it, however, and if YOU do, you’ll shell out a pretty penny, about 80 dollars per month to be exact, for three pieces per day.

As comfort food, however, chocolate wins hands down. Primarily for women, though, not so much for men. Women tend to want food that is not labor intensive.

Comfort foods are eaten for extremes in emotions: Depression and elation. In fact, chocolate is the MOST craved food by women, according to studies, and not necessarily for its sweetness. Many other foods are sweet and don’t have the same allure.

Caffeine effect perhaps? Maybe. Some contend that the cannabinoids found in chocolate mimic that found in marijuana, so perhaps there is some truth to chocaholics’ claims.

But is it actually addictive? Many scientists have studied this. Some say no, some say yes, but the results are largely inconclusive.

Yes, it contains chemical compounds that are similar to those found in marijuana, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, and probably lots of other stuff, too. That in itself doesn’t prove anything.

It is important to note, however, that many people have a medically defined allergy to chocolate.

Quality varies greatly. Price plays a big part in determining quality. You can pick up a cheap candy bar at the dollar store or purchase expensive Swiss candies, exquisitely boxed, at fine boutiques.

High quality chocolate contains just cocoa, cocoa butter, sugar, and sometimes real vanilla and soya lecithin as an emulsifier. The cheaper stuff includes fillers, cheap artificial flavorings, and preservatives.

What are the best ways to avoid cravings? Perhaps just say yes to one small piece. Make an event out of it and buy one piece of the expensive European kind. See if that satisfies your craving. If so, you’ve consumed a relatively small amount of calories.

Or try flavored foods, such as yogurt. Again, a small amount, such as you would find in a single serving yogurt container.

Taming the chocolate beast can take time and determination. When the monster roars, take a deep breath, think, then decide if indulging will really cure that stress you’re under right now. Chances are, the answer is no.

How To Lose Weight By Eating Chocolate!

Posted by - Categoriezed under: Chocolate & Diet

The world of dieting and diets is full of some really strange and wacky ideas! It seems that almost every month some celebrity or another is coming out endorsing yet another spin on the diet theme! Well, I’m no celebrity, but here is one you might not expect – The Chocolate Diet!

I can almost see you falling off your chair in fits of giggles – here comes another of those wacky fad diets from yet another self-proclaimed expert! I’m always very aware of that old definition of an “expert” – “X” is an unknown quantity, and a “spurt” is a drip under pressure!

The Chocolate Diet? Haven’t we’ve been told since we were young that chocolate is BAD for us – a moment on the lips, a life time on the hips! Certainly, if you are talking about highly refined milk chocolate then I would agree with you. But, what if we were talking about something very different?

We might be in need of a quick history lesson. Hernan Cortes was the Conquistador who led the  “conquest” of the Aztecs. Writing in 1519 he observed:

“The divine drink builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this precious drink permits a man to walk for a whole day without food”!

And the drink he was talking about was …. Chocolate! Remember, he was a soldier not known for making rash, unsubstantiated, judgments. Clearly, something is going on here that we need to pay attention to.

But before you go rushing off to the local supermarket, and hit the sweet counters, this is not any old chocolate we are talking about! Certainly, it is not your average confectionery chocolate. What if we were talking about one of the most natural and nutritious foods known to humanity – the original Healthy Dark Chocolate?

Most of our “sweet” chocolate is so highly processed that all the natural goodness has been stripped from it. The very processes we use to make chocolate more “palatable” destroy nearly all its nutritional value. In the same way that overcooking a dish of vegetables turns it into a nutritional wasteland, so it is with chocolate.

This article is all about how healthy chocolate can genuinely help you to lose weight. It is not a joke or another diet scam. It is a serious and accurate claim that can work as well for you as it has for us.

Let’s think about dieting for a moment. Most people equate “going on a diet” with some sort of fiendish punishment for past sins! They believe that everything that makes eating fun and enjoyable has to be stopped – no more treats, just boring, boring, rabbit food!

That is precisely why I love the idea of “The Chocolate Diet”. Imagine being able to have regular portions of healthy chocolate that will actually help you to lose weight. Suddenly being on a diet doesn’t seem such a bad proposition after all!

Surprisingly, there is a great deal of solid scientific evidence to suggest that eating healthy dark chocolate can actually reduce your body fat levels! It seems that eating real chocolate regulates the genes that are involved with the metabolism of fats. It actually helps our body to digest the fats we consume.

Not only that, but healthy chocolate also seems to act as a major appetite suppressant too. A small square or nugget fills you in a way that seems unbelievable considering its size!

Much of our desire to eat comes from the poor nutritional content of so much of our food stuffs. Our body craves certain nutrients and will encourage us to eat to supply its needs. If it recognises that it is getting the nutrition it needs it ceases its craving for “junk” foods with their high sugar and dubious nutritional content.

Our family has certainly found this to be the case, and our desire for “quick fix” snacks has all but vanished since we have been taking our healthy chocolate. Regular doses of good, nutritious, food seem to naturally regulate our weight – without all the painful side effects and cravings of conventional dieting.

Does it mean that you can still eat lots of other rubbish and magically lose weight? Of course not! You have to look at your total diet. The good news is that the chocolate seems to help you! A common experience is that people no longer crave unhealthy snacks – the need for instant sugar fixes are gone, and with it goes all those extra calories that pile on during the day.

Remember, the most effective way to lose weight is to control what you eat. And an effective way to control what you eat is to let healthy dark chocolate do the work for you. You definitely won’t feel like you’re “on a diet” then!

One of the definitions of madness is doing the same thing but expecting different results! Until you do something different you will not lose weight – it really is that simple. Sometimes people just need a gentle nudge to make empowering changes. That nudge can come from eating healthy chocolate – it will simply do the work for you.

If you have a few too many wobbly bits where there use to be firm curves then here is something that should definitely get you interested. A new approach to lose weight that will help you to get the body you always wanted, without all the heartache of a conventional diet!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

Posted by - Categoriezed under: Choco Cookies

I have always loved the combination of chocolate and peanut butter. I used to love the commercials of the kids running into each other, one child with the Hershey chocolate bar, and the other child with a jar of peanut butter.

The first time I tried these cookies, I was hooked. The recipe is a very simple peanut butter dough, with a Hershey’s kiss in the middle:

1 cup butter2/3 cup creamy peanut butter1 cup white sugar1 cup brown sugar2 eggs2 teaspoons vanilla2 2/3 cups flour2 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon salt

Additional sugar in a bowl for rollingChocolate Kisses

Combine butter, peanut butter and sugars; blend until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; blend. Mix flour, salt and soda, add to cream mixture; stir well. Roll dough into quarter size balls. Roll ball in bowl of sugar. Bake dough at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Immediately place chocolate kiss in center of each cookie. Bake an additional 2 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack.

You can add food coloring to the dough to create any color you’d like. We have made these cookies in red, green and blue. You can also divide the batter and make multiple colors for one batch of cookies.

Experiment with the many flavors of Hershey’s kisses. They make a kiss that has peanut butter right in the middle. These are a wonderful addition to the peanut butter cookie. Hershey’s also makes kisses with nuts in the middle. This is a fun kiss to put in the middle of the cookies. If you make a red dough, try the chocolate kisses that are part white and part brown.

We have also added peanut M&M’s in the middle, instead of Hershey’s Kisses. Follow the same recipe adding the M&M’s at the very end and baking 2 additional minutes.

If you find the cookies a little sweet for your taste, cut out some of the brown sugar. Try cutting the brown sugar down to 3/4 of a cup.

Simple Dieting Tips & Healthy Eating Plans – Chocolate Diet V Low Fat Chicken Recipes

Posted by - Categoriezed under: Chocolate & Diet

Did you ever hear the likes, a “chocolate diet?” Brace yourself because you hear right. Chocolate acts as a vitamin replacement; if this is true then healthy benefits derived from this particular diet may not be so bad after all

The chocolate diet is just one of many fad diets which include you eating favorite foods. While consuming your specified amount of yummy allowance keep in mind it is supposed to control high blood pressure and prevent heart disease. Although encouraging reasons for using the diet, what of rotting teeth and the people who bang weight on if they as much look at a bar of chocolate.

The diet mainly consists of fluids. Powder or supplements are given to the dieter to mix with milk or water. Is this not cocoa as we all know it?

Chocolate contains anti-oxidants that help prevent arteries clogging. Does this not leave the dieter in a catch 22 situation after being advised to avoid sugary foods because of fattening issues? Weighing up the good and bad is it not healthier to carry a little excess weight to avoid pores clogging or having a heart attack. Chocolate prevents heart disease and obesity increases the risk of heart disease. Is obesity not the same as fat? I am confused.

Chocolate powder shakes are not for replacing or substituting meals, but designed as healthy snacks to stop a rumbling belly. Is this diet so bad when the sugar supply gives us that much needed energy boost?

The question is does the chocolate diet work.. It’s not clear that chocolate stimulates metabolism or helps the fat burning process. Beyond that, too much of anything can be bad. While chocolate does have health benefits, a diet with an emphasis in chocolate may not be the best way to lose weight. To shed pounds stick with a sensible eating plan.

Diet – Throughout the day you can munch two 40 gram bars of chocolate and drink sugar-free coffee with non-fat milk. Make eating exciting and appetizing, mix chocolate chips with strawberries in a glass bowl. Glass allows visibility of the delicious filling which guarantees lip licking. Slice a couple of bananas and drizzle melted dark chocolate over them. You have to take the chocolate diet for 5-7 days and no longer. After one course take a break for 3-4 days. The chocolate diet is a decreased calorie diet that centers on drinking liquid diet shakes to fill the gap. People use it as a replacement for food and if you consume less food this clearly indicate fewer calories.

I am not sure I agree this can be called a sensible diet when evidence proves different i.e. pounds piling on instead of dropping off and decaying teeth. Before dieting speak to your doctor or dietician

The sensible thing to do is ignore fad diets and embark on the sensible by following a sensible eating plan. Choose the wrong diet can be dangerous – seek expert advice. The best way to evaluate a diet is by the promises made. Overnight weight loss or miracle cures are promotional pledges you should snub.

Crash dieting is unhealthy. Weight loss is for more than just losing pounds. Exercise for skin and muscle tone is just as important. Exercise is necessary but it won’t replace a diet. A combination of both is ideally the key source to losing weight. Give yourself time to adjust and not to lose focus when you begin your first diet.

Consider a low-key diet that aims at healthy foods:

1 Choose an apple over a chocolate bar.

2 Cut out cordials and drink water.

3 Walk rather than use the car or bus.

4 Limit portion sizes of what you eat. It is easier than counting calories and carbohydrates.

5 Use a smaller plate to serve dinner on.

6 Replace sticky puddings for pieces of fruit

To lose weight, fewer calories have to be burned off than what you take in. Skipping meals and eating fewer calories can cause severe consequences; it can lead to binge scoffing later because of low energy and blood sugar levels. A sensible and healthy eating plan will include between 1200 and 1400 calories daily for women and 1500 to 1800 calories for men. Breakfast being the most important meal of the day is one you must not skip. Eat 4 to 5 times a day but in moderation.
